Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the use of the Darksense Web Site (the Site).

PROTECTION OF PRIVACY

Darksense respects the privacy of Site visitors and will protect their privacy as reasonably possible, following both recognized best practices and applicable legislation.

DEFINITION OF “PERSONAL INFORMATION”

This Privacy Policy applies to any personal information we collect or receive about you, from you or any other source. “Personal information” as used in this Privacy Policy refers to all information about an identifiable individual that is recorded in any form (such as your name, your phone number, your postal and email address and your payment information), as further defined in PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation. Please note that personal information excludes aggregate information which represents compiled data from a group of individuals who can no longer be individually identified.

Business contact information (including name, title or position, business name, business e-mail address, telephone number or facsimile number) provided to Darksense by email or any other means is not considered to be personal information.

COLLECTION & DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Darksense does not use the Site to collect information that personally identifies individuals. The Site users will find at various locations on the Site email links that can be used to send email to Darksense. When individuals voluntarily provide any of their personal information by email to Darksense, we will use this information only for the purpose for which you have provided it.

BeCyberSeure does not disclose your personal information to any third-party providers unless expressly authorized by you.

USER BEHAVIOR

Darksense collects information about the activity of our Site users while using the Site; this information does not contain any personal identifiers, and is used by Darksense to measure interest in and use of the various sections of the Site, so as to improve design and navigation. To the extent that Darksense may collect IP addresses, such information is used only for the operation and security of the Site, and it is not used identify a specific person directly.

COOKIES

Darksense automatically collects Site user information through the use of cookies, which are small text files placed on a user’s computer by a web site. Each time a user returns to the site, the information in the web site’s cookie will identify to the web site the user’s browser, with which the cookie is associated.

Darksense uses cookies only for the following purposes:

  • to facilitate sessions for users who login to web applications available through the Site
  • to facilitate a “remember me” feature that involves the storage on the cookie of a user’s username and password for web applications available through the Site
  • to adjust the user experience of the Site using preferences that Site users have agreed to provide to us
  • to allow Darksense to track user behaviour, so that Darksense can make improvements to the Site user experience.

Darksense will not use cookies to collect the personal information of its Site users, or to track a user’s activity on any other part of the Internet aside from the Site.

If you do not want a cookie placed on your computer by the Site, you may disable cookies altogether by modifying the Preferences section of your Internet browser. Note that it is possible that some aspects of the Site may be unavailable to you if you choose this option.

LINKS

The Site may present users with links to other web sites. Darksense is not responsible for the manner in which an organization that owns a non-Darksense web site may collect, use or disclose your personal information, or any information about your use of its site. You should review the privacy policy of any non-Darksense web site before providing any information to the organization that hosts the site.

EMAIL

The Site provides users with an email address link, which is located in the ‘Connect’ section. This link makes it easy for Site users to email Darksense with questions or comments. Darksense will use the information sent to us by email only for the purposes for which it was sent. Once these purposes have been met, Darksense will permanently dispose of the email, and of any other information collected about the email sender. No personal information provided to us will be shared or exchanged with, or sold to, any third parties without your express permission, unless such provision is required by law.

Email is not a secure means of transmission. Darksense cannot guarantee the confidentiality or security of any information sent to us, or from us to you, by email while it is in transit. Individuals therefore send information to Darksense by email at their own risk. Darksense will not assume any responsibility for harm or damages that occur or that are experienced through the use of email by you or by Darksense when replying to your email.

SAFEGUARD AND LOCATION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We have implemented physical, organizational, contractual and technological security measures in an effort to protect your personal information and reduce the risk of loss or theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, misuse or modification of your personal information. We also periodically update and review such security measures. Notwithstanding these security measures and our efforts, you acknowledge that no system or network can be entirely secured and that there are inherent risks in disclosing personal information on Web browsers and electronic devices.
